Windows 10: Update deleted scanner Fujitsu and printer Brother software

About a week ago Windows tried to run some kind of an update. I tried to bypass it because I like my Office 2016 suite just fine even though I have a subscription to Office O365 that I could use. I sat down to try to scan a bunch of paper and discovered that my Brother MFC-J6500DW software had been deleted. Downloaded it again and attempted to reinstall. It keeps stopping in the middle because the install program tells me the USB cord isn't connected. Unplugged USB cord. Replugged it in. Nothing. Replaced the cord. Nothing. Tried another port. Nothing. HOWEVER, I can still print

I had to reinstall my brother printer and scanner my icon is no longer on desktop. I need it to use the scanner. Any suggestions

Please try the steps recommended below to uninstall printer software

Press Windows key + X, click Apps & Features or Programs and Features

Select your Brother printer.

Select Uninstall.

Press Windows key + R, type control, hit Enter

Open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your Brother Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for Brother Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

Close Devices and Printers.

Proceed to reinstall the driver.
