Windows 10: Update disabled my DVD players on W10. This is just one more bad idea from Windows.

I played my extensive DVD collection right up until I had W10 for about 6 months. Now my built-in DVD player and my external DVD player are no longer recognized thanks to yet another update. I'm going to Apple tomorrow. They don't have these issues. HUGE MISTAKE, WINDOWS!

Windows DVD Player for W10

In October 2012 I purchased the Windows 8 Media Center Pack and I've still available the needed product key for that pack!

After upgrading the PC over time to W8.1 and finally to W10 I also could install - free of Charge - the newest DVD Player Version for W10. As I had to reinstall from scratch that machine with W10 my DVD Player for W10 is gone and the store is asking for
a Code but is not accepting my product key as that requested Code and so the store instead is only offering to me the purchase Option!

Are there any good ideas or hints how to re-install my DVD Player again based on my purchase in 2012?

In order to assist you better could you please confirm whether you're using the Windows 10 DVD player App or Windows Media Player (DVD).

I suggest you to update the drivers from the Device Manager and see if this helps. Follow the steps below to do the same:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the DVD/CD ROM Drives.
• Right-click on the mentioned drive and click on Properties.
• Go to Drivers Tab and click on Update.
• Restart the computer and check.

Bad driver to DVD-player

Hi,

The issue might cause if the drivers are not updated. So, I suggest you to update the driver software by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Press “Windows key + R” type “devmgmt.msc” and press
  Enter.
• Right click on DVD/CD Roms from the list and select
  properties.
• Under Driver tab click on Update button and follow the prompts to update the driver.

If the issue still persists, download the latest drivers from the manufacturer and install the same.
