I was trying to install kb5000850 and kept getting the error 800f081f. I ran the update troubleshooter, which just told me to reboot. That didn't fix anything. I ran 'sfc /scannow' and it didn't find any problems. I downloaded the MSU from the update catalog which failed with no error code (presumably for the same reason). Then tuesday kb5001337 was released and I'm getting the same error and I can't get that to install either. What went wrong, how can I fix it, and how can I prevent it in the future?
