Windows 10: update failure

hello. I was wondering if someone could nominate a god data recovery program. I did an attempt to up my PC from windows 10 Pro Ver1909 to Ver 202h. I got the windows media creation tool and went about it and did everything correct by the way the update was an update notification in the settings the check for updates it went thru and did all its normal stuff and i am not a newbie to this kind of work,i do all my home PC management work and do rebuilds from old and new anyway after it did its stuff it said it needed to do a restart and i could do it now or at a later time. so i clicked on the restart now button and off it went on its merry way. so when it came back on and indicated it was updating the OS and might take a while i just waited then i would say near the completion of the up date a pop up came and said "this PC cannot be updated at the moment and will be rewound back to its original state" so i say ,Oh, OK that's weird and let it do its stuff". The rewind had finished and when i looked at my drives i noticed 1 BIG DRAMA. i had 1 backup & storage hard drive partitioned off into 4 separate partitions with letters "L -M -N -O". To my horror only partition M had been formatted, that particular partition contained a stack load of family photos and business documents and backups of my OS drive which was dual boot partition, windows 7 on 1 partition and windows 10 Pro on the other partition. So noticing what had happened i shut down and removed that drive so as not to corrupt anything or it wont be written over. So i am after a good if possible free as i am on a pension data recovery program that is capable of retrieving data from an accidental format ONLY THAT 1 PARTITION after doing a windows 10 update and then removing it straight away to prevent corruption. thanks for future help Garry

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows Update failure with error 0x80070002

I have tried all the steps suggested to no avail as I have been browsing all similar failures and tried the suggested solutions. The Windows Update service appears to work ok as all other updates are ok.

It may help if I someone could explain the meaning of the failure message.

When I tried the USB method it failed in a similar way suggesting that there was something wrong with the Windows Product Key. It may help that at sometime in the past the system was restored after a failure. On some forums I have seen comments that if the
key is not perfect then the upgrade will not work.

Intel E5200 Gets Updated, R0 Stepping Coming Up

Intel's Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor is getting on course for a specifications update. The chip will feature in a new, improved Wolfdale-2M core, spec'd out as the R0 stepping, from its current M0 stepping. The new stepping is intended to add new instructions, power-management features, and bring about changes in the chip-package. A short list of known changes is as follows:

• CPUID changed from 10677 to 1067A
• Power State Indicator (PSI) support with Intel 4 series chipsets
• New instructions - XSAVE and XRSTOR
• New S-spec and MM numbers
• New halide-free chip package

Due to the changed CPUID, users may require BIOS updates to detect the CPU. According to the company, E5200 R0 should be out by April 13.
