Windows 10: Update freezes at 99% which was originally Windows 7

I have an AcerAspire notebook which was originally Windows 7.It is now Windows 10 version 1709 OS build 16299.522.I have tried 4 times to update with the Windows Update Assistant but each time it froze at 99%.
I ran the troubleshooter and it finished with the message"Potential Windows Update database error detected
not fixed".When I click on Windows update in settings it tells me your machine is up to date checked today.Does this mean that 1709 is the furthest I can go with updates on this particular notebook?

Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.


Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows update freezes

If your Windows 10 freezes while updating, it could be due to corrupted or incompatible drivers or system files, or third-party application conflicts. We suggest you to run the
