Windows 10: Update from Windows7 to Windows10 freezes at 89% completion of Updates

Hi there,


I am desperately trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, using the Media Creation Tool, however it keeps failing. It always freezes at 89%, and I then have to hit the power button, at which point, the rollback occurs. I have tried removing ALL external devices (mainly USB devices like scanner, printer, external harddrives, etc.) and i have uninstalled my Antivirus software, but i'm still having no luck. Seems to me like a problem with the Windows Installer. Any ideas? I found a similar post from another guy, date July, 2019, but there didn't seem to be any resolution to his problem.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Since the update still freezes at 89%, we suggest performing a clean boot to check for any software conflicts
that may be affecting the update. Make sure that you still have the antivirus program disabled while performing a clean boot.
