Windows 10: Update has installed windows on my data drive

My laptop has 2 drives. An SSD boot drive with W10 C:\ and other programs and a data HDD D:\. My laptop is not my main PC and I don't use it very often but I ensure updates are applied often and especially before I travel.


I started the laptop this week and found it very slow and then I notice the majority of non-microsoft programs were missing.


I then realised that the laptop was booting from the HDD which had now been reconfigured as the windows boot drive and was now the C:\ drive and the SSD is now the data drive.


I am assuming this change occured with the windows system update which installed on the 2nd June but I have no idea how. However it may have happend prior to this as there are only to restore points offered and the laptop is 18 months old.


However all the original files W10, Office 365 and all the non-windows software are still on the SSD drive.


My questions are


How do I reconfigure my Laptop so it boots from the SSD again keeping all the original files?


I cannot find another instance of this but I not sure what key terms to search under. Does anyone know what caused this to happen?

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Hard drive/ OS issue

a guy suggested :

• unhooked HDD
• restarted
• yay !!
• reconnected HDD
• restarted
• yay !!
