Update history shows it requires a restart (KB4041676)

Windows update history still keeps showing it requires a restart to finish installing this update (KB4041676).
After numerous times restarting it never goes away, did a System File Checker and DISM no problems.

The Windows Version is what it should be after this update

I read many have had BSOD with this Oct. 17th update, no problems here just what was stated.
If anyone knows a solution otherwise all is good with my PC.

    :)

  2. KB4041676 shows "Requires a restart to finish installing" even after many restarts

May have answered my own question.

Uninstalled the update and rebooted. Still showed the update (in history) as "requires restart" but, after automatically checking Windows Update, asked to run the install for KB4041676 again. So, I did.

Now a second entry for KB4041676 appears in the history and shows "successfully installed."

I think it is all good now.

  3. KB4041676 shows "Requires a restart to finish installing" even after many restarts

In the update history on one company laptop, update "2017-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4041676) Requires a restart to finish installing." All of my other systems say "successfully installed."

Ran SFC, tried updating Nvidia drivers to see if it would cause it to check, downloaded the Windows Update troubleshooting tool and I even tried downloading the update manually and running but it said it was "already installed."

Thinking I should try to uninstall it and retry the manual. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi jds63.

    This might be overkill

Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

You might also try the Update Trouble shooter before the reset above.

Trouble shooters are found Start => Settings => Updates and security.

Not really any issues with my PC other then seeing it say it requires a restart to finish installing this update when the update is already installed.

Reset Windows Update and it is gone as it cleared my history and also rechecked for updates.

Just assume an update issue a some are having different issues with it. Other then that PC is running fine.
