Windows 10: Update Installation Woes

Perhaps the solution to this is very simple. Either way I am voicing this concern here because it has been very frustrating:



Two days ago, I was prompted to schedule a time to restart computer for update installation. I scheduled a time --intentionally--when I would not be working at the computer, so the updates would install and that would be that.


The next morning I turned on the computer only to get a message saying I needed to update....

Apparently the scheduled updates hadn't gone through as planned.

Someone at Microsoft support said it was because I had shut off the computer at night. In order for the system to update it needs to be plugged in and turned on...


I scheduled the updates again, for a time I would not be using the device --6 A.M. That night I deliberately left the computer on, hoping and assuming that the next day the matter would be put to bed. Unfortunately, the next day--which is today--upon loading the computer, I am getting another disruptive message telling me I need to update, and can wait an hour to do so, etc.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to change my computer's "sleep" or "hibernate" settings in addition to leaving it on? Are there multiple updates?


I would really appreciate some advice on how to efficiently schedule and complete updates so that I can not be interrupted by this day after day....

Insurgency wont install and run for me....

I have played and have fully updated CS and Half life 2....
I am using the newest client and installed the SDK.

I am completely blown away, if i click the desktop icon it starts the sdk and then closes, and it doesn't show up in my game list...

First mod attempt install here, followed the directions step by step on the mods website...

Any ideas?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Let's try the below steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Uninstall and Reinstall the graphics card drivers in Compatibility mode
and update and check.

I would also suggest you to update graphics drivers.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Search for Display Adapters and expand it.
• Right click on the graphics driver and select
  Update driver software.
