update KB3194496 : new error 10 in event log. AppReadiness/Admin

I have been winnowing down errors in my event log and was succeeding until today.
Installed update KB3194496 (I am not on any preview streams).
    And got the following error:

The Appx operation 'RegisterPackageAsync' on 'Microsoft.AccountsControl_10.0.14393.206_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy' failed for user. . . .

I don't have a clue what this is about.

    Thanks for your help.

    :)

  2. AppReadiness errors after September 29 Windows 10 update

I'm getting the exact same errors. Previously had nil errors in event log. This has only happened after the forced Cumulative Update (KB3194496). I did a system restore and errors disappeared but update automatically reinstalled and errors returned.

Please don't reply with standard Microsoft answers of run SFC or create new user profiles etc, these errors are to do with (KB3194496). Microsoft must start to give an option to not install updates automatically in Win 10.

  3. KB3194496 fails to install on Windows 10 Pro Version 1607 reverts back to 149393.187?

Tried half a dozen times to update Windows 10 14393.187 to 14393.222 on my Toshibia Satellite C655-S5339 laptop running Windows 10 Pro 14393.187. KB3194496 downloads and goes through preparing to install just fine.

However, Working on Updates goes up to 99% then shows:

    We couldn't complete the updates

    Undoing changes

    Don't turn off your computer

Upon rebooting and logging back in, Windows Event Viewer records the following in the system log:

    Event 20, WindowsUpdateClient

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x-6-based Systems (KB3194496)

I getting the same on my W10 Pro but not on my W10 Home.

I just keep on trucking as everything seems to still work.

at least i'm not alone *Cool

    These errors (2x ID 10 + 2x ID 214) occur every time the user log-in (10 Pro).

However, the system seems to work perfectly despite this 'interference'...

Same for me on 3 PC's one Enterprise 2 Pro

    Event Error 10:
The Appx operation 'RegisterPackageAsync' on 'Microsoft.AccountsControl_10.0.14393.206_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy' failed for user 'Name' - . (Error: Install failed. Please contact your software vendor.)

    Event Error 214:
'Microsoft.AccountsControl_cw5n1h2txyewy' install failed for 'Name'. Error: 'Install failed. Please contact your software vendor.' (0.0937535 seconds)

I followed these instructions from another forum:
    Run Windows Update Troubleshooter
    Please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key and type “Troubleshooting” on the Windows Search bar. Click Enter.
    • On the left side of the Troubleshooting window, click on “View all
    • Click on Windows Update. Please provide a password if asked for it and click ok.
    • Follow on-screen instructions.
Everything appears to have gone ok with the install.

i've just followed your advice (no error returned), let's see what happen at the next reboot (→does NOT work for me)

exactly, all is working as expected (also here)

Thanks for the hint Dooger. I followed your advice and I found a service's registration problem but, after correcting it, in the event viewer still remain the fab 4 errors (2xID10 and 2xID214).

    Greetings,
    Joe

edit: I noticed that these 4 errors occour only when booting/rebooting (not when suspending nor blocking or changing user).

update KB3194496 : new error 10 in event log. AppReadiness/Admin

Just want to join the chorus here, and say that I am getting quite a few of the errors, mentioned in this thread. I don't have a great deal of knowledge, but wanted to report these errors as well.

This is occurring on two computers, but both machines seem to be running with no issues. Both computers are running windows 10 home.

  14. Hi guys, I just registered here to let you know I'm also getting the 10 and 214 errors, twice each at startup and restart.. How annoying, it started yesterday after the latest update. I tried the update troubleshooter and it fixed something but still getting the errors, also tried Dism and sfc scan and nothing. I'm on Windows 10 home not pro. I did a clean install when anniversary update came out. I have no idea what to do next, what do you guys think about uninstalling yesterday's update and downloading it again?
