Windows 10: Update KB4041994

Is the Windows 10 update KB4041994 an update for Fall Creator's update that is not in, the insider program. My computer tries to update KB4041944 but gets an error message 0x80070643 every time. I sought to download it from Microsoft update catalog but there is no such update shown.

Also, Belarc says that I need to install KB4054517 I have downloaded it but I get the message that it is not for my computer. My wife has an Acre desktop running an Intel chip and the update is present on her intel system.

Winver says that I have 16299.192

Update Won't Install

Lou, Today February 9th, 2018, I found the solution to my problem with update KB4041994 failing to install. It was posted on this link :

KB4041994 fails to install • r/Windows10 .

By uninstalling my HEVC Media Extension on the Settings>Apps page, and then reattempting the download and installation of update KB4041994, the update installed successfully.

I just have to wonder why that was not the first suggestion to try? I hope any other users with this problem with update KB4041994, can find this solution helpful, as I have.

You will see at end of thread a couple of non insiders got this update.

As to the error code there are quite a few hits within google. (Searched KB num and error code) A couple point to issues with Windows update and this may be tied to your second issue where Belarc is reporting missing when you appear up to date. This link
