Windows 10: Update KB4535996 1903 bricked my computer

I had automatic updates turned off, but Windows started updating anyways in the middle of the night and then I got a blue screen of death. After using my recovery USB to finally get it booted up again, it froze and crashed. Now, disk check keeps getting stuck at 3% and the recovery USB doesn't work anymore. It just says "cannot repair your PC."

What the hell, Microsoft?! My whole life is on this computer. I can't boot in Safe Mode or anything. I want this crappy update OFF MY COMPUTER. I'd rather get a virus at this point.

Uninstall Cumulative Update KB4535996

Hi ,

As I was having very slow boot times (10-12minutes to boot to Desktop) after installing CU KB4535996, I uninstalled it, and boot time improved to 4 Minutes, but this caused other issues with the PC, so I re-installed KB 4535996 again.
( Back to 10-12Minute slow boot)

I waited for the next updates from MS, hoping something will be resolved with them. After the new Cumulative updates KB4540673 and KB4551762, since nothing changed and boot times didn't improve, I wanted to uninstall the rogue update
KB4535996 but to my dismay, it is not listed anywhere under the installed programs. Not sure what to do now. Will it be hidden somewhere - Can you assist ?

It was KB4524244 that was blamed for the inability to boot, but KB4535996 did come in with it. (I can't recall which of those came as an optional to me. The OP Xipit thought it was the former, but I guess it must have been what you say.) Some
said the problem only applied to AMD processors that had HP Sure Start installed. At this page, under "'Reset this PC' feature might fail", MSFT acknowledges it was KB4524244 the beast...

I did install it, but this is an Intel. The computer still worked & booted. Still, I finally decided to uninstall it after seeing strange things in
View Reliability History (ask Cortana). And that looked better afterward, with KB4535996 still installed.
