  2. KB5034441 - ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE (0x80070643)

I have tried numerous times to install the KB5034441 update to no avail. The same error message is returned every time - Failed to install error code 0x80070643.

As noted, Microsoft has issued an advisory that one needs to increase the free space in the Windows recovery partition by reducing the space in the OS partition by 250mb. I have not done anything yet as things don't make sense! There seems to be more than enough space in these partitions already: recovery partition sitting at 572mb. The OS partition sits at 118GB!

So, I am going to hang ten till a new update is put forward by Microsoft, as the current knowledgebase article to get the update to install is too advanced for the average user and will get extremely low adoption.

I look forward to your feedback

  3. KB5034441: can I delete both recovery partitions

    Hi, Art Expert Tutor

    Welcome to the MicroSoft Community.

KB5034441 is a cumulative update for Windows 10 and Windows Server. If you’re experiencing issues with it, it’s possible Microsoft may release another update to address these issues, but the timeline isn’t always predictable.

Regarding the recovery partitions, these are special partitions on your hard drive that contain recovery data or are set up to act as a recovery environment. In general, you should not delete recovery partitions unless you really need the disk space, or you have made a backup of them.

Deleting recovery partitions could potentially lead to problems if you ever need to use system recovery options. If you have Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) disabled and you delete the recovery partitions, it will not reactivate WinRE because the system can’t find the recovery environment.

However, deleting the recovery partitions should not impact your PC’s ability to boot under normal circumstances, as they are separate from the system partition. Still, it’s generally best to leave these partitions alone unless you have a specific reason to remove them and are prepared to deal with potential consequences.

If you decide to delete the remaining recovery partition, make sure you have a complete system backup and a recovery drive handy, just in case something goes wrong.

    Best Regards

KB5034441: can I delete both recovery partitions

KB5034441: this update prevents security updates, when will it be fixed?

    I currently have WinRE disabled.

I have deleted 1 of 2 recovery partitions, if I delete the second, will my PC still boot ok? will this remove WinRE?
