Windows 10: Update not completing

For a while now this has been happening: my computer slowing down in an endless update. It would take 10 minutes to boot up and 30 minutes to shut down, practically forcing me to hard shutdown at times. The update 2023-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5031356 has been stuck at Installing - 20% for the past few days so I'm assuming it's corrupt in some way. Is there a way to cancel the update or fully restart it? Thank you

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the update and response.

I suggest you to go to Windows services and restart the Windows Update service and check if it helps. Follow the below steps to do so.

Steps:-

• Press Windows Key + R and type “services.msc” (without quotes)
• Hit Enter.
• Search for Windows Update service in the list.
• Right Click on it and stop it.
• Again right click on it and start it.

No. Also I followed the steps on Manage suggested recipients in the To, Cc, and Bcc boxes with Auto-Complete

cleared this list (Empty Auto-Complete List.)
disabled the option ("Use Autocomplete list..") and again cleared the list
relaunched Outlook in between
still those very old email addresses show up.

I give up.
