Windows 10: Update to Windows 10 v2004 Breaks Intel High Definition Audio Driver

I have a HP Pavilion 15 cs-2075wm Windows 10 64 bit


It has 2 sound devices


Realtek HD Audio

Intel High Definition Audio


Windows Update has installed version 2004 Feature Update which broke the Intel High Definition Audio driver saying it was incompatible.

You must forward this to your team that handles Windows 10 Feature Updates to resolve this issue.


You must also take more time testing your updates for compatibility issues. We should always be able to use our hardware regardless the windows version.


You are wrong doing things how it's done now.

Intel High Definition Audio Driver

I had this exact same problem after downloading the first cumulative update and some drivers a few days after installing version 1809. The old driver should still be kept on your system; you shouldn't need to download anything. What makes this problem especially
confusing is that, (at least in my case) it needs a "Realtek High-Definition Audio" driver, because the actual hardware was made by Realtek Semiconductors, and is merely based on an Intel standard. The procedures I used are:

1. Go to Devices and Printers in the Control Panel
2. right click on your computer's name and click properties
3. click the hardware tab, the malfunctioning device should be at the top of the list (indicated by something like a yellow triangle in the bottom right corner of its icon)
4. click properties for the malfunctioning device
5. in the individual device property window click change settings
6. go to the driver tab and click update driver
7. Click the second option browse my computer, then click let me pick
8. under manufacturer select Realtek, then select Realtek High-Definition Audio and continue with driver installation

This should reinstall the original Realtek High-Definition Audio
driver.

 

Windows 10, 10th October Update Intel High Definition Audio Driver Issue

Having audio issues on computer as many other Windows 10 users, like no sound through HDMI, and looking for the correct Intel High Definition Audio driver,
no speakers are detected and have an issue with the Intel High Definition Audio driver.

 

Intel High Definition Audio Driver

When I press the volume keys on my keyboard there is no display indicating this, and there is no sound through the laptop or the headphones. When I clicked on the volume icon a window opened and automatically scanned for hardware changes, detecting that
there had been none. In the device manager under other devices, Intel High Definition Audio, it says that the drivers are not installed for this device, and that ther are no compatible drivers for this device. I clicked on update drivers and was told there
were none for this device. I then went to the control panel and under the sound menu it says that there are no audio devices installed. What happened? The sound was working fine one minute and now it does not even exist on my laptop. I have tried the Intel
Driver and Support Assistant, but it did not detect any needed drivers for Intel High Definition Audio or that is is even present on my laptop, which it is on device manager. And only Intel Display Audio was even acknowledged on the driver update assistant.
What can I do know?
