Windows 10: Update Windows 10 caused loss of all files. How restore?

My wife received a Microsoft pop-up announcing update. She accepted it and several hours later she found after the update ran she no longer has any files. How restore?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

February Windows 10 Update Causing Loss of USB and Blue Screens!

As posted over at Computer World, the February Windows 10 patch for the fall creators update to version 1709 is causing serious crashes and loss of USB.

When most everyone is using USB ports for their mouse and keyboard, this will render them inoperable.

Best case is to uninstall the Feb update:

Loss of files after the system restore in Windows 10

Please answer the below questions to assist you better.

1. When you say “lost my files” what are you exactly referring to?

2. Do you get any error message?

3. Have you checked the files in Recycle bin?

4. Have you taken a backup in the external drive?

I would always suggest you to take a backup in external hard drive before you perform system restore.

Though it is said that System Restore does not affect your personal information such as email, documents, photos, videos, etc, but there is highly possible that some of your personal files are deleted while system restoring.

During System Restore, there may be errors and such errors may cause damage to the files that are present in the system. And, computer shutdown during restoring process may also lead to file loss. Sometimes when System Restore is failed, it may lead to loss
of important files as well.

I suggest you to provide the screen shot of the issue, and provide us more information.
