  1. Update wiped out apps, can't reinstall

Windows 10 did an extensive update last night and now Windows Media Player does not work. I followed instructions for fixing this, and then told WIndows to reinstall, and got the worthless error message "Install failed." No explanation, just "it didn't work," and nobody asked Windows to remove or otherwise mess it up during the update anyway. The update has also caused problems with Windows Explorer. When I try Setup_wm.exe, I get "an unexpected error occurred" which also is absolutely worthless.

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Update wiped out apps, can't reinstall :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

    reinstall store app windows 10

Did not work for me. I troed it 3 times, allways got an error.

    Hi Fernando,

These are the steps to resolve the issue with Windows Store app itself. For better assistance, we suggest creating a new thread about Windows 10 apps installation.

    Regards.

  4. Update wiped out apps, can't reinstall

Wipe a dual boot machine and reinstall Win 10?

I have an old machine that started out on Win 7. I updated/upgraded over the years and it now has two SSDs one with Win 7, the other with Win 10. I created the dual boot a long time ago from the Win 7 drive.

I'm worried wiping will negate my Win 10 lisence since it was an upgrade not the original OS. I have the original Win 7 serial, but I don't think that is relevent to the process any more.
At any rate, I'd like to give the machine to an elderly neighbor, so I need to wipe it and reinstall Win 10. I don't know where to begin. Anyone able to point me in the right direction, for a step by step?
