Windows 10: Updated to windows 10 22h2, started install, then screen went black

So I got windows 10 22h2 to download, then get ready for install. I clicked restart now, and it starts to restart, went to a blue screen saying installing updates, don't turn off your computer, got up to 9%, then the screens went black. The computer is still on, but the one screen is black and the other says no input detected, and the mouse and keyboard are no longer lit up. It has been like this for over an hour. Am I just being impatient, or is there something I should do?

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

I would suggest you try the power troubleshooter if you are able to boot into the system.

Follow the steps below.

• Press Windows key + W and type Troubleshooting.

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.
