  1. Updated Windows - Most Pinned Apps on Start Gone, Search Barely Functioning

I just updated Windows tonight and most of my pinned apps on the start menu were gone. I tried searching for them with the search bar but it's unable to find anything. I ran through all the common fixes for the search bar but it still cannot find all the apps. I know some of them are still somewhere on my computer because I can open files and it'll pull up the app. Ones I know the location for, I've been able to pin but their names are a little odd ie msedge instead of Edge, mspaint instead of Paint. It cannot locate any of my Office products, Edge, snipping tool, Genshin Impact, and more. I

Windows 10 Start Menu, search and Cortana still not functioning correctly

I had some issues with Start Menu not functioning. this was solved in a post by a Microsoft Engineer Giridhar J. However, although the Start menu is now functioning along with the notifications. there are some glitches still.

I cannot pin folders to the start menu. Search and Cortana still does not work properly. Search is glitchy at best having to click on the start button then immediately click in the search box for it to work. Cortana does not work and is not listed as a app
    any more.

    Any suggestions?

here is a screen shot of the start options

Windows 10 - Cannot pin applications to start menu, but old games are there

    Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

I would like to inform you that you can only pin or unpin desktop apps or modern apps/apps installed from Windows Store to the start screen.

As you mentioned you are facing issues while searching for Paint. I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

    • Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
    • Type Paint.
    • Right click on Paint desktop app and select Pin to start.

You may refer to the following link for more information:

    Hope it helps.
