Windows 10: updates are underway

Hi My Microsoft Surface 4 laptop is on a loop of restarting after "updates are underway" screen. Its my sons computer that he has been needs it for school as it has a lot of his projects. How can i save his data and take it out of this loop.

after restarting my laptop it shows updates are underway please keep your computer on without a percentage im still waiting for an hour already how to fix this, i just bought this laptop 3 days ago

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Updates are underway - Windows not even starting in safe mode

I got an automated windows update last night on my Asus laptop, and it is runnig whole night. I teied yo restart PC but even after restart it goesback to updates underway screen and keeps restarting. I have tries to follow options to start laptop in safe mode but its not going there as well. Screen is just showing updates ate underway.

Please advise what can be done to restore my laptop?
