Windows 10: Updates error out with 0x80070643

Two new updates consistently fail with 0x80070643: 2021-04 .NET 5.0.5 Update for x64 Client and 2021-04 .NET Core 3.1.14 Update for x64 Client. The failures seem to prevent the Defender updates from being processed as well.Updates have been working fine, generally daily, until today. No new drivers, no new devices, no new installations of any type save windows updates for several weeks.The system is running Windows 10.0.19042, version 20H2. The most recent cumulative update mid-May KB5003173 installed fine. Interestingly, newer versions of the failing updates were installed on the sam

Try to apply the update manually As suggested by Microsoft. I just wrote a
step by step guide.

However be sure that the update itself is downloaded and that the installation part is failing, and not the downloading part.
