Windows 10: Updates on laptop not downloading

So my laptop isn't letting me sign in with fingerprint and pin ID anymore. I had to sign in with my microsoft account password. The when I tried to set it up again it wouldn't let me, with a little pop-up saying"we couldn't sign you in" and "your request was not supported." And since they couldn't sign me in, I went to "Your Info" to verify my account but the same pop-up came up and read"we couldn't sign you in" and "your request was not supported." :


THEN! I went to update my laptop thinking that would help everything. W R O N G. Now my head hurts :

It won't let me update but it says "STATUS: DOWNLOADING: 0%" and it stays being 0% with no progress i'm confused why it isn't going. Because of this, I can't verify my account to fix my login preferences.


Someone please help me!!

Alienware Area 51 m15x BIOS Update Released

If you were among the group of people experiencing overheating issues with your Alienware Area 51 m15x laptop, then there are some good news for you. A new BIOS update, version X29b P3A30 is now available. The update allegedly allows VGA fans to increase up to 5400 rpm and thus better cool the GPU. To obtain the new BIOS, you'll need to email the m15x support line (L: Area51_m15x@alienware.com). In reply you should receive a link to the BIOS .zip archive. Once you download the small file, Alienware recommends to follow the steps described in the Read full story marker.



Open Nero Ultra Edition, click Backup, and then click “Burn Image to Disc.” Next, select the file “m15x_x29b.iso from the unzipped folder.

• Plug your AC adapter in
• Disconnect all third-party peripherals
• Don’t turn off the computer or restart it during the update
• Don’t eject your DVD/Blu-ray drive during the update.

Steps:

• Open BIOS by tapping F12 during boot
• Set BIOS to boot from your CD-ROM drive first
• Save and exit
• Upon reboot, the BIOS flash update will proceed
• Click “Yes” through the prompts
• Restart

Laptop no longer charging since Windows 10 update

If the laptop works without the battery then charger is functioning correctly. Take a cloth with a bit of rubbing alcohol on it (or some on-the-go alcohol swabs), and clean the metal contacts that connect your battery to your laptop.

Make sure to install all Windows important updates.

Install latest versions of your laptop device drivers you can download the latest device drivers from the device manufacturer or from your laptop manufacturer website.


Step 1

1. Shutdown your laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect the AC power adapter to your laptop.

4. Power on the laptop

5. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu or from Control Panel.

6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).





7. Shutdown the laptop.

8. Insert the battery.

9. Power on the laptop.

If above suggestions wont resolve the battery charge issue then follow below steps.




Step 2

1. Shutdown the laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Start the laptop with only AC adapter connected to laptop.

4. When you login to Windows OS connect the battery while Windows OS working.





Step 3

Reset the System Management Controller. Use one of these methods to reset the SMC, which controls battery management, battery status light.

1. Shut down the computer and disconnect the power cord.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds.

4. Reattach the battery and AC power adapter, then start up the laptop.


Hopefully one of the above suggestions will help you resolve the battery not charging problem. If battery still doesn't charge, you may need to replace your battery.
