Windows 10: updates struck at 64%

In the process of upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, some devices are getting stuck at 64%, even though their processors meet the compatibility requirements. Error says.0xC1900101 0x40021.The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP_RESPECIALIZE operation

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

• Are you getting any error message?
• Have you made any changes to the Computer prior to the issue?

I would like to inform you that this issue occurs due to the following factors

1. Connection interruption between your computer and windows Update service.

2. Corrupted Windows Update Temporary folder.

As of now, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: Run the Windows Update troubleshooter

• 
  On the search bar type
  Troubleshooter
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting and click on the
  Settings tab below the search box.
  
• 
  Click on the Find and Fix problems tile and then click on the
  view all button the left pane.
  
• 
  Click on the Windows update
  troubleshooter and run it.
  

Close Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then run Windows Update again. You can also wait for Windows Update to run at its next scheduled time.

If issue persist, proceed to next method.

Method 2: If the troubleshooter didn’t detect any issues, I would suggest you to check if the Windows update service is running. Refer to these steps:

  Press Windows key +R, type “services.msc”
  
• 
  Locate the Windows update service and check if it is running.
  
• 
  If not, right click on the service and click start to start the service.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
