Windows 10: Updating amd graphics drivers broke sound

Hello. I am currently having issues with sound on my huawei laptop, its a matebook d 15 with windows 11. I downloaded the most recent graphics drivers from amd's website and installed it. My sound then stopped working it had an x on the icon and it said there were no output devices, so I restarted the computer. But there was still no sound.I updated the sound drivers and it bluescreened, with a "page fault in non paged area". It would then bluescreen everytime it booted and I couldn't get into windows.I rolled back the sound driver in safe mode but that brought me back to having no sound. I'

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check, if it helps:

Method 1: I suggest you to update drivers and check if that helps. If that issue persist please uninstall and reinstall latest drivers available in manufacturer website.

• Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
• Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.
• Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
• Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

If that issue persist try to install in Compatibility mode

Method 2::Compatibility mode

I would suggest you to install the latest available drivers on manufacturer's website in compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

The sound suggesting a video lock suggests a driver may have become corrupt where a complete refresh of the video driver may be all you need to see while leaving the AMD app on. You can download and unpack the update from the support page there and then uninstall the drive in the Device Manager to then see the fresh install of the updated driver go on fresh and be made active by Windows. The support page there also mentions two MS patches for known issues
