Windows 10: Updating Display Drivers (best gaming experience)

So I'm not actually a gamer, but this doesn't count that much for the theme of the thread.

I play from time to time the Witcher series, but for W10 I still have the display drivers got by Update Center from October 2015.

I got a NVidia 840M display card. The most recent version via GeForce experience is from May 13th (Today).

For those who might need addition detail I got a Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-70, with upgraded RAMs from 8GB to 16GB.

For a better gaming experience should I stick with the default drivers or try to upgrade the Display (or others, if you'd recommend) manually?

The above issue might have occurred for the following reasons:

• Game not compatible with the browser.
• Incompatible/non-updated display driver installed on the PC.

Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

• Which browser are you using to play online games?
• Are you facing issues playing other online games from the browser?
• Did you check if the issue persists on browsing the game using other browsers?

If haven’t tried, check if similar issue persists on browsing the game using other browsers. Also check if similar issue persists on playing other online games on the browser.



If the issue persists, update display drivers manually by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved:

• Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
  Device Manager from the context menu.
• Expand Display Adapter option right click on the display driver and select
  Update this software option.
• Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the update to complete.
• After the update is complete, close the window and check if the issue is resolved.

When it comes to drivers, generally speaking if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Having said that, there are 3 acceptable places to get drivers: (a) the computer manufacturer; (b) device manufacturer; or (c) Windows Updates. (A 4th location would be from a driver update service but there's no guarantees where they got the driver from, the actual version they're offering, or if they modified the driver in any way.)

The driver manufacturer builds a generic driver that should work well on most computers. Each computer manufacturer is free to modify a driver to make it "better" for its line of machines or specific models (like gaming computers vs. business computers.) Windows Update may not always offer the latest or greatest driver, just the last driver they tested that seems to work. with a particular operating system.

If I absolutely had to upgrade a driver, I'd first make a system restore point (at a minimum) or a system image (preferable.) I'd look for the updated driver from the computer manufacturer first because the manufacturer knows best how to maximize performance on his line of computers, Windows Update second, and device manager last. If something goes wrong the restore point or system image should get you up and running in a minimum amount of time. Hope some of this helps.
