Windows 10: Updating from Windows 10, version 1909 or an earlier version to 21H2

Hello Team,There are still few machines running on Windows 10, version 1909 or an earlier version and I need to upgrade them to 21H2 ASAP without impacting their data/software. I am unable to find any relevant plan mentioned. It will be a great help if someone can suggest me the options to upgrade these machines.

Can I Update Windows 10 version 1909 to version 21H2 (latest)?

Then Please send the useful steps to do that...

By changing windows version 1909 to 21H2 does it removes all files(music, videos, software,etc.) present in my laptop or it is safe, nothing will be deleted.

Now I am not getting critical updates for windows version 1909.

Please anybody give suggestion regarding this matter.

Please try installing the latest feature update manually and let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.

If the update fails, let us know the error code, and run the Setupdiag tool. Post the outcome of the same.

Update Windows 10 from version 1909 to 20H2 & 21H2 failure

Windows Update errors

I am running Windows 10 pro 64 bit.

I have been trying to update from Windows 10 version 1909 for over ten months.

My Windows Update history shows multiple failures of Automatic updates.

Things I’ve tried

I have tried pretty much all the recommended fixes:

• Running update trouble-shooter - no problem found
  
• Running SFC - corrupted files are found and repaired.
  
• Running DISM
  
• Turning off Kaspersky
  
• Selective startup, with all non-Microsoft services turned off
  

Boot from downloaded ISO

I have also tried booting from an ISO, both on USB flash drive, and one burnt to a CD.

Generally speaking, these updates fail and rolls back.

A couple of times the update has appeared successful, but then the machine is unstable-I get blue screens about 5 minutes after booting up.

In this latter scenario, all restore points have been deleted, and none of the recovery options works.

My only option in this case has been to restore the previous installation from an up to date image file.

Update Assistant

I downloaded Windows Update assistant as directed by MS support, which said it would update 1909 to 21H2. I set it going, and, after downloading, it began the update.

This update failed three times and rolled back to the previous version.

Windows support

I have contacted Microsoft Windows support on about four occasions. Earlier this week I was told but it was not possible to update from 1909 to 21H2 because 1909 [which I have been trying to update from since April 2021] is no longer supported.

I have just bought some rather expensive sound editing software, and I receive a warning that it is not compatible with the version of Windows I'm running. Hence my renewed attempts at upgrading.

Can anybody help?
