Windows 10: Updating Printer Driver List

Hi, I'm in the process of getting 18 new Surface Pro 7's booted, updated, and ready for users and when it came time to start installing printers I've been unable to install normally which is. 1. Printers & Scanners2. Add a printer or Scanner3. Printer that I want isn't listed4. Add printer using TCP/IP address5. Windows Update to update printer driver model list6. Find Model and InstallWell I've tried this on multiple computers and every one except an old Windows 7 laptop has returned a popup of 'Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update. Please try again later', when

Adding unlisted printer to the Win10 list

!'m not sure how I did it but all seems well now. It was something like Deacon suggested plus a re-boot or two. It's now listed as a printer, not as unspecified.





Update the list still doesn't work.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• How is the printer connected to the computer, locally or through network?
• Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue?

I suggest you to try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to update the drivers for printer and check.

• 
  Right click on the Start button from the desktop and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate and expand Print queue.
  
• 
  Right-click on the printer driver
  that is listed and click Update driver software.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to run the printer troubleshooter from
“Fix printer problems”
and then check if this fixes the issue.

Unable to remove a printer gone in "Unspecified" group

An outdated, or incompatible printer driver could be causing the issue. We suggest that you update your printer driver, or
uninstall the printer driver; then, restart the computer, and have Windows install the latest driver automatically. Check the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
• Locate the printer driver and uninstall it.
• Restart the computer.
