updating RAM seems to have had the opposite effect--slow things down

My laptop is 5 yrs old (old enough). Not being in a position of buying a new one I added an SSD drive a year ago. What a difference *Smile Now still not in a position to upgrade I realized that my Acer laptop can't have its CPU upgraded. The only other possible option was its RAM. I could not find the same make of DDR 3 ram nevertheless the one added was reputable.. So now both slots are full 2 X 4G (the limit for my laptop) but instead of seeing my laptop go faster it seems slower and even lags at times. I tested it both with the Win 10 "ram tester" and with 'memtest86' all is working fine. So why is my computer slower, or seem to be? Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
