More failware in the process of updating second hand computers. The PC has Windows 7 and cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 due to the processor and some other problems and in theory it could be updated to Windows 10 but only in theory, as in practice the process gets stuck at 46% of "Getting updates". Someone once said that updates are malware by definition, and he was not that far from being wrong. There is no difference between failure and getting stuck in the middle of an unfinished process forever.Technically this maybe is not a "system failure" and in that case this topic can be moved, but

Someone once said that updates are malware by definition, and he was not that far from being wrong. There is hardly any difference between malware and failware, as one disrupts a process that should be technically possible and so does the other. .

Technically this maybe is not a "system failure" and in that case this topic can be moved, but from a user's point of view there is hardly any difference between a system failure and an epic fail of getting stuck in the middle of updating process.

Does this computer build have compatibility problems? Opinions welcomed!

Lets start with what you're going to use this computer for, not what you want to put in it.

Rules/steps to building a computer (in chronological order):
First rule: Determine what your needs are.
    Second rule: Define your budget.
    Third rule: Pick parts.
Fourth rule: Review parts several times.
    Fifth rule: Buy said parts.
    Sixth rule: Build it.

You are on rule/step 1. Go through the list until you're done.

is it possible to hand build a motherboard?

Might I suggest you simply build a computer, making notes and taking pictures step by step. Most people (probably including your teacher) have no idea even where to start building a computer. You'll do fine, and if you get stuck we're here to help ya out! *Toast :toast:
