  1. updating win7 home to win10 pro

    Acer Aspire 5560 laptop.On my win10 desktop, I run MediaCreationTool22H2.exe to a clean 64Gb USB Data Key using all defaults and it makes it bootable. On the laptop, I boot with the USB drive inserted but I get a message saying it can't update this way. I must first boot into win7 and then run setup.exe from the USB drive. I do this and it goes through all the actions - getting updates, checking space, etc - until it get to "Ready to install" where it says:You've chosen toupdating win7 home to win10 pro :eek: Install Windows 10 Homeo Keep personal files and appsExcept, I didn't get a choice about the version of Win10! How do I

  2. Win7 Pro (OEM) to Win10

    Thanks Andre.

    Just as I knew...

    My original question was why I wasn't able to chose Win10 Pro when using the MCT from within Win7 Pro OEM. I'm guessing my original suggestions were correct?

  3. Win7 Pro (OEM) to Win10

    Just tried to use the MS 'Media Creation Tool' to download an .iso of Win10 Pro 64-bit - the only OS offered in the dropdown box is Win10 Home!

    Currently running Win7 Pro (OEM) on my last machine to be upgraded. I haven't yet done the automatic 'upgrade' to Win10. Of course, I know I need to do this before doing a clean install with a downloaded .iso. Is this the reason for no choice of the Pro
    version?

    If first I do the free upgrade from Win7 Pro (OEM) to Win10...

    a) Will the upgraded OS show as Win10 Pro (OEM)?
    and;

    b) If I then run the 'Media Creation Tool', will I then be offered a choice of Win10 Home or Win10 Pro in the drop-down?

    It was always my understanding that Win7 Pro (OEM) was entitled to a free upgrade to Win10 Pro (OEM)...

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

    Henry

    Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
