    Updating Windows 10

One of my clients has a 32gb tablet. It has been upgraded to 10, but cannot do updates because it is out of space even when moving all user files to external media. When it was updated to 10, there was an option to use external media as space for the upgrade to happen. Is there this option for normal windows updates? A restart is forced every couple days and it takes a long time to just give an error code that there is no space for updates to be installed.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so i figured it out myself

    Found the logfile in "C:\Windows\Minidump".

You need the Windows Development Kit to open it and a bit of googling to understand it.

Found out that a Daemon driver caused an error. Removed Daemon but this didn't solve it. (ps: Daemon itself worked normally).

I let hibernate my computer again and found another error with sptd2.sys: SCSI Pass Through Direct layer

More google and ended up on the duplexsecure site. Downloaded the W10 version and voila: problem fixed.

For the Windows support team: It would be really helpfull if you could pass problems to a more skilled helpdesk who can do more than proposing the standard solutions in case those won't work.

    Cheers

  3. Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so I also found out that this occurs when sleepmode (for me after 3 hours) changes into hibernate mode.

Seems like the going into hibernate and/or starting up from HIbernate results in a shutdown. In safeboot it works perfectly.

Anyone any idea how I can figure out where it goes wrong. Is there a way to log this (I couldn't find it in bootlog)

I don't know about using external media as extra space for updates, but you might want to look at installing MiniTool Partition Wizard and seeing if there is a factory recovery partition still on the memory, copy that to a USB or MicroSD card, and then adding that free space to C: drive.

Unlike upgrading from 7/8 to 10 10240 where you could use an external usb drive as the scratch space, this facilty disappeared when trying to upgrade to 10586.

This made it hard to install 10586 on 32GB tablets, and virtually impossible on 16GB tablets.

MS have issued a patch that allows you to upgrade 10240 to 10586 using an external drive as the scratch space.

    See

If you cannot see the update, yiu can download it from here

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ ... =KB3124260

To install, open a command prompt with admin rights and enter

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\users\username\downloads\KB3124260-x64.cab

where username is your username and you have downloaded to your downloads directory.

edit: just realised you probably need the 32bit version not the 64bit version.
