    Upgrade 7 to 10 failed

I waited for 2 hours and the monitor just stayed black and the only thing I could get on the screen was a message, "input signal out of range". Have tried 3 other monitors and I get the same message. I will go back to 7 and try again, but what should I do about the monitor message before I do the upgrade again. I also changed the monitor cables.

    :)

I think you need to be a bit more specific ie system specs like which asus mobo, what video card and so on.

Did you use the upgrade through MS media creation tool for you specific OS win 32bit or 64bit?

Tbh, I've done a number of older amd towers and had no issues using media creation tool "upgrade this pc" even the older amd 6150se/430 mobo with an HD3850 went without a hitch.

Ps, it's sounding like the monitor is set higher than what the video card is outputting ie 12xx x 1024 vs your monitor is maybe higher like 1440x900 or 1080p. I haven't tried to boot into safe mode/low res with win 10 but win 7 was F8 I'd guess win 10 is the same.

What monitor do you use? What is its make and model? Then you should check in the Device Manager, which driver and which driver version you are using for the monitor. You maybe can prevent this problem by updating this driver, should a newer driver be available.

On changing things: I don't think you have to change the monitor cables, but if, then (for the installation process) you should change the monitor!

I don't know what is going wrong for you there, but it should help to just use any other monitor during the upgrade. Afterwards you should again be able to use your normal monitor just as usual.

My problem was solved. None of the monitors I had used were the problem nor cables. I couldn't believe that many monitors or cable were bad. It was the display card. Even if I had set it at 60, I still could not install. I used a card that I had in my test machine and when I installed it and checked, it said that the hertz (60) would be set automatically, and it was and it worked perfectly. So maybe cards should be looked at instead of monitors or cables. The old card does not work in my test machine.

Yeah, I also thought that it was unlikely that the monitor was the issue; that's why I proposed to use "any monitor" - such an install simply has to work with basically every monitor. If it keeps failing, you cn be pretty sure that it's not the monitor...

Not to be rude but you're still being vague "card" what card, I'll suggest it again update your specs to something meaningful, if you don't know what's in the box use cpu-z and gpu-z.

The display card. What specs are you referring to?

The actual card like 8800gts, 290x, HD4670 or onboard 6150se anything in the future would help you get a better response besides that your post will pop up in a search and although you've solved it the reader will have no clue what card you are talking about, just a thought.

Ps, I'm still wondering what card didn't work.

Are looking for make and model? I guess I can't make out what you might be asking. It was the display card, the card you connect your monitor to. I'll have to dig around and see what info there is for it. It was on a customers machine and I don't have it right handy. I know what you are saying about the specs, but many times my questions are problems a customer is having , so I don't have all of that listed in my system specs.
