Windows 10: Upgrade Disasters

What is the best way to protect ourselves from Microsoft release of corrupt updates. When 1809 came out I was still suffering the same problems I had with 1803 and earlier with networking sharing which was totally changed since April. I could no longer access the drives on my desktop from my laptop where I usually work. (I'm up to level 3 with Microsoft now on that issue) And, the WiFi connection kept failing on the 2.4 channel I usually use. As a user of Ubuntu, I am amazed that Windows has so much trouble keeping devices working properly. Regardless of the hardware configuration Ubuntu just works.


Automatic updates are out of the question if we can't trust Microsoft to debug an update before being released but they make that almost impossible for the average user to do. So we need a backup of the OS since after 10 days we can no longer undo the update (didn't know that) and a separate backup of our user account since Microsoft may choose to delete some of our files without warning. Alternatively we need to do a disk image backup before installing any updates.


Any other thoughts on how to protect ourselves?

Video card or RAM need upgrading?

Memtest: no errors after 10 hrs.
I'm going to perform the Primetest, later on. Get back to you on that.
I'm going to take it step by step, guys. I need to find the problem with this current computer. I might have to upgrade some components, so that it is still runnable. As for the new one, yes....i will build on it later. I need to find something decent 'gaming experience', all suggestions appreciated. THanks.

Best advise is DO NOT UPGRADE it is a DISASTER, you will regret it
