    Upgrade from 10158 to 10159

Upgraded my VM and Laptop from 10158 to 10159. Both went perfectly, no problems. Took about an hour each.

The VM I did via Windows Update. Then I used ESDtoISO to make the iso and copied it to my laptop.
Mounted the iso (right click, Mount) then ran setup.exe from the mounted ISO.
Upgrade took about as long as the upgrade via Windows Update.

On both, all programs still working and all data intact.

Nothing obviously new that I see so far.

    :)

  4. Upgrade from 10158 to 10159

So far I've gone from Windows 7 to 10074 to 10122 to 10130 to 10158 to 10159. 7 to 10074 was online via the Insiders page, the rest via Windows update. A few little niggles but no major show stopper type of issues. I didn't time the upgrades/updates. I just logged in via remote desktop and let it do its thing, then checked the progress every once in a while.

so frustrating: the search utility in 10159 must be an orphan - it cannot seem to find any of the recent esd files including its own!#%&!!!
anyone know of a GOOD file search utility?
where is the current build spree being stored? Windows BT??? i enter tags:ESD, nothing [even though I know where the old ones are], large filesize by date: NOTHING .. no files found [it just upgraded to 10159 last night!]

    where is 10159??? [where's waldo]

    HI there

I managed to go from build 9926 to 10159 IN ONE GO. Earlier builds just had problems --such as I couldn't do anything with the USER LOGIN so I couldn't do a login via an ms account (I think for build 10159 you have to enable the insider preview via an Ms account).

Solved Strange --Build 10159 available FROM BUILD 9926 !!!!! - Windows 10 Forums

I always keep backups of the older builds --in this case it was useful.

For those that are really stuck WD has an ISO in the normal places such as KAT. (Blocked in a lot of Europe but easy enough to find a proxy).

    cheers

  7. I've always used an MSA. I wasn't prompted to use one on the first upgrade to 10074 but switched shortly after the upgrade. At that time 10074 was the newest build offered via the insiders page. There also were no newer official ISO's to be had so I went the Windows update route. After that I just kept doing Windows updates for each new build. It's my second desktop PC that I use for testing. I wanted to see how doing repeated updates would pan out. I had issues with the early builds and did end up having to clean install a couple of times to get rid of them. So far so good though this time around.

  9. I haven't bothered even looking for the ESD file. I just wait for the official ISO's to show up. From what I've seen posted Microsoft changed the download location.

Since the $Windows.~BT folder is hidden, you may have to adjust your view options to find it in the Sources folder.

  11. Download from WU was so sluggish I just downloaded the ISO by torrent. As smoothly as the upgrade to 10158 went this one went as poorly.

The install.esd file for 10159 is located in the $Windows.~BT\Sources directory. The .esd file for 10159 is slightly smaller than 10158.

For 10158 and 10159 you need to use the new ESDtoISO download.

A good file search engine is Everything Search. It's all I use as I disabled Windows Search service with no ill effects so far.
