    That error is so vague it's hard to guess what's the cause - suggest you check the documentation for installation from that site - maybe even run those appaiser scripts - they check compatibility and stuff - meanwhile I'll try to replicate the error in VM...

    The same error has happened to lots of people. For some it's a language pack issue, while for others there is no known fix. I'll try some other stuff and see if I can figure out another install method or get Windows updater to work.

    Also odd that always stops at exactly 8% on the blue install screen. This is before the actual black screen install.

    Probably a dumb question: it wouldn't fail because the ISO that I mount and run is on my secondary HDD while my OS is installed on my SSD? Just trying to think of dumb little details that may be screwing with it.

    I can't install Windows 10 through any available methods. Out of luck until Microsoft creates a better system for this upgrade :/

    OK, just finished all sorts of hardware configs in VM with both Home and Pro from all the Win 7 editions, and can't replicate that error (got one HAL_ error but that was VM related) - also upgraded a partition on spare HDD with Win7 Pro with the ISO I linked to but still nada, Amigo.
    Maybe a clean install Win7 SP1 is best.

    Can't find a way to fix those 2 issues though.

    Yah, Looks like corruption either way..backup what you want and start clean - that way we eliminate all sorts of unknowns.

    My sisten is a boot SSD with some programs on it and two HDD's. As I've never done it or have much experience with reinstalling Windows, if I were to just clean install 7 on my SSD and keep everything on my hard drives, would programs on my hard drives work when I upgrade 7 to 10? I'm going to guess not but I think all my files should still be accessible right?

    Applications will need to be reinstalled - but you need to backup stuff like export outlook files etc...

    Final inquiry about this. When I reinstall Windows 7, should I need to install all the hundreds of Windows updates or can I just get started with the Windows Media Creation tool?

    Come on Windows, I just want to format my HDD. Stop telling me the drive is in use when it has almost no programs on it and nothing on the drive is open -_-
