Windows 10: Upgrade from 8.1?

Have a clients PC needed new hard drive.
Had the upgrade from 8 to 10 on the old.
Installed the 8.0 from the recovery USB.
Can I do a upgrade back to 10 and, if so, how???*Huh

I have tried the above steps, but my computer does nothing when I press the windows key and the X

Thanks. That solved that. I thought you had to load up each country as you needed it.

 

Run setup.exe from the Windows 10 installation ISO file, USB flash drive or DVD:
Download Windows 10

You could also have just started with a clean install of Windows 10 and not bothered with Windows 8.

I wasn't sure that the Product Key was baked in on an original Windows 8 PC.
Obviously it is since it worked like a champ.

Windows 10 will either detect the Windows 8 product key and just use that to activate with - or it will just activate itself from the digital license already stored on Microsoft activation servers for that computer.

 

Win10 should be able to activate after upgrading directly from win8 to win10
