Windows 10: Upgrade from BIOS to UEFI with dualboot? win + linux, 2 hdds

Hello MS forum,I have a Lenovo IdeaCenter with a dualboot on it. It was originally carried over from a BIOS-based Optiplex that was my daily driver until recently. I have two HDDs: a 1TB drive with Windows 10 Pro on it, and a 2TB drive with Ubuntu 20.04 on it. I have been using it so far in CSM mode, but I want to convert it to run completely in native UEFI mode, in the hope that it will provide a decent speed boost. How do I go about doing this WITHOUT requiring a full reinstall of Windows and/or Linux?Your help would be appreciated.Regards,Ben

Arch linux and windows 10 dualboot- on a UEFI hp 2 in 1

hi there, nice people. I am in a situation, you see. I saw a REALLY cool beta Linux (apricity OS) that was based of Arch Linux, so I dualbooted it with windows 10 on my hp x360! it has UEFI, so I disabled secureBoot. now here is the bad part.......

I have 2 boot managers!!!! in my bios options, I have
2!!! 1, apricity 2, windows boot manager

so do I have to change boot managers to change the os??? if so then microsoft and their UEFI is
bonkers!!!

please help

I really want to boot apricity os AND windows 10!

 

USB HDD: IN BIOS

Hi AJAY, in modern BIOS (UEFI) it is normal to have USB devices listed, such as USB HDD without drive being plugged in.

In older Legacy BIOS, a drive would have to be plugged in for it to be listed in BIOS, but not no londer . . .

 

Bluetooth and dualboot with Linux

I have a common web-developer setup: dualboot of Linux (Arch) for work and Windows for entertainment. And I have bluetooth headphones (Sennheiser HD1 Wireless), that can bee connected to two devices. But there is a problem.

If I pair my headphones on windows, they are not recognized anymore on the linux. If I "unpair" them on linux and reboot into windows, it's not being recognize on windows anymore (so I have to unpair again and re-find the device again). I have been doing
that for 6 months and it has become .. emm ... mildly infuriating.

It feels like I have each OS using the same bluetooth "device id" but using a different "secret" for connection.

So, I have to options:

• change the device ID in one operating system (same way as MAC addresses for network adapters)
• make sure that both OSes use the same "secret"

Is one of these options available on Windows (what I have a legal 10 Home version ... or non-professional version)? Or should I try to fix this on the Linux side? Are there any tutorials for this you can link me to? Or some google keywords?

Buying second pair of headphones is NOT a good option.
