    Upgrade from Win 8.1 to 10 fails at second_boot at around 71% every time


    I tried 3 times in the last maybe 5 or 6 hours. Everytime it's the same error: 0xC1900101 - 0x40017

    I tried all the things Microsoft recommends. It's likely an issue with a driver. I don't know where to look anymore. I deinstalled my anti virus, I cleared my auto run and I checked for uncertified drivers (there were none), I also did all the updates. I am also quite minimalistic, so I uninstalled all software I didn't need. I do not have any devices connected to my PC besides keyboard, mouse and monitor (+Wifi).

    It seems like it's not a huge thing that has to be fixed because everything works just fine up until that second boot but I don't know where or what to look for.

    Windows 10 build 10240 got to 71% installing twice and stuck there

    I have a Dell Latitude 10. It came with Win 8 32 bit. I upgraded to Win 10 during the free upgrade time. When the 1607 update came out, the machine went to crud. It always failed at 71%. I did the above steps. I finally busted out my Win 8 install stick
    that came from Dell. I did a clean install of Win 8. Great. i did the upgrade installation and It got stuck at the exact same 71%. When I rebuilt the machine I only deleted the windows partition. I'm now going to wipe the entire drive and see if it continues.
    This is beyond frustrating.

    Hi All,

    I am looking for help PLEASE lol.

    I have tried and tried to upgrade from WIN 8.1 to 10 with no success.

    The error that comes up is
    "0x80070004 - 0x4000D The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation."

    I have removed all 3rd party antivirus, and a bunch of other fixes. Any ideas ?
