Upgrade from Win7 Home Premium to Win10 Pro Using MCT and Purchased Product Key

This really isn't a big problem, but I'm curious why it's happening and if it can be easily corrected.I bought a Win10 Pro product key with the intention of upgrading a Win7 Home Premium installation using MCT.Running MCT didn't offer me an option of which Win10 version I wanted to install, but I gather that MCT chooses the correct version based on the product key.MCT completed without issues and the product key was activated without a problem. The OS installed, however, was Win10 Home, not Win10 Pro. No big deal, since I think Win10 Home is more than adequate to meet the needs of this machine

Win10 activation using Win7 Product Key upgrading product version variant also

That's correct. I meant to say Win7 Ultimate. That's what's written on the box. Sorry for the confusion.

So, based on your reply I can "upgrade" my Win10 Home of my new laptop purchase to Win10 Pro by using the product key of my Win7 Ultimate at no cost.

Built new computer, running unactivated Win10 Home, have Win7 Pro key

I was initially thinking of buying a Win10 Home key, but I realized I still have a Win7 Pro key I purchased that I have never upgraded to Win10 and is not currently in use.

    Two questions

    • Can I use the Win7 key to activate Win10 (or is that no longer an option)
    • Will Win10 Home turn into Win10 Pro (assuming I can still use key)

Upgrade from Win7 Home Premium to Win10 Pro Using MCT and Purchased Product Key

Win10 activation using Win7 Product Key upgrading product version variant also

    Dear community,

I recently purchased an HP laptop running Windows 10 Home (pre-installed).

At this point I have an activated Win10 OS running. An upgrade from Win10 Home to Pro or above comes of course with an upgrade fee.

Now, I have read that since November Microsoft supports the use of Win7/8 Product Keys in order to activate Win10.

I have purchased in the past an original copy (physical/boxed DVD) of Win7 Enterprise. Not upgrade but new install copy which of course comes with its own license.

My question is if I can use my Win7 Enterprise Product Key to activate my new laptop's Win10 Home with intentions to upgrade Win10 to Enterprise Edition free of charge considering that if I had a fresh installation of Win7 Enterprise the upgrade to Win10 would
have taken place at the same version variant level i.e. the Win10 Enterprise Edition.

Thanks a lot for any responses.
