  1. Upgrade from Window7 to Windows 10 has wrecked my computer

    Hi,

im hoping someone call help. I went to upgrade my pic today.created a restore point before I ran the media creation file i created for window 10 version1909.

The upgrade was 95% complete when the computer suddenly restarted and went into repair mode and just froze.

No matter what i try it keeps going into a frozen repair mode screen.

i put in a Windows boot up disk and tried to repair and restore. It informs me there is no restore points but there should be at least 4.

when I open command prompt I can see the hard drive now contains a c drive, d drive and e drive with files spread all over the 3.

The upgrade has made a complete mess of the hard disk, I have done a good few upgrades in the past while but this is the 4th pic Windows 10 has destroyed.

    I'd appreciate any help, I don't want to rebuild all 4 pc's.

    Kind Regards,

    Dave

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.

Upgrade from Window7 to Windows 10 has wrecked my computer

Has windows 10 wrecked anyone elses computer?

Are you saying that you bought a new computer with Windows 10 pre-installed, and an update 'wrecked' your computer? If that's the case you need to ask yourself a question I often ask myself: what am I doing wrong?

Updates cause problems for these reasons:

    • The hardware isn't compatible with Windows 10 - which is not your problem if you bought a computer with Windows 10 pre-installed.
    • An incorrectly configured copy of Windows was upgraded - again, not your problem if your PC came with Windows 10 pre-installed.
    • Unwise configuration changes were made to the computer. That will definitely cause trouble for an update, because updates expect to find a supported configuration.
You can have a brand new computer and cause all kinds of problems for yourself with just a few clicks. (I know, because I've done it myself.)
