Windows 10: Upgrade from Windows 7 fails at about 75%

Trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Getting the same error.


Error
SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED


The installation failed in SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation
0xC1900101-0x40017


When the update reaches 75% it runs into the above errors.

Just tried to upgrade today from Windows 7 and am having the same issues. Get to 75%, get the above mentioned error, it tried to recover install 3 times and then reset the computer back to Windows 7.

Windows 10 fail to install @75% of the upgrade process

I have tried to install Win 10 update 7 times. I am upgrading from a computer running Win 7 Service Pak 1. All my drivers are updated and i have all the latest updates from Win Update installed. Win 10 downloads, installs but fails @75% during the upgrade
process. This happens just as it is starting to configure the update. It gets to 2 % and thats it.
I have let it run for up to 8 hours and it does nothing. I have tried to install using the GWX update and the Media creation tool. I have tried both methods w/ a clean boot. The results is the same every time. I never get an error code, i just
give up and try it again. I read some discussions that suggest the problem may be the Sotware Distribution folder down load needs to be emptied. I have thought about that, but would that mean all those updates would have to be downloaded again? Any suggestions.
