    Upgrade from windows 8.1 to 10 with valid 8.1 product ID


    My machine has windows 8.1 and want to upgrade to windows 10. I have licensed product ID for windows 8.1. when tried to upgrade, upgrade fails with error" failed to validate product key". How to go about it?

    To clarify the concern, please answer the following:

    • When did you purchase the computers with Windows 7 Pro?
    • How and when did you upgrade the computers to Windows 8?
    • How and when did you upgrade the computers to Windows 10?
    Requirements in upgrading to Windows 8 from Windows 7:

    • Windows 7 must be updated to Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
    • Valid Windows 8 product key (which you will need to purchase).
    Requirements in upgrading to Windows 10:

    • You need to have either Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
    • *Valid Windows 10 product key (which you will need to purchase).
