Windows 10: Upgrade hangs at 10% complete and never goes fowrard

After upgrading my old eMachine from Win 7 to 10 Home Premium all went well on my PC but my wife's exact same PC all goes well until it gets to installing the files and hangs at 10%. Yes, both PCs have a graphic chip that is not supposed to be supported, but I installed the correct driver updates on both. My PC upgraded okay, but now the other hags at 10% and will not go any further. I can just kick it off and it reboots to Win-7 and runs like nothing has been done. Maybe when M$ ever get their act together all the people having problem with their flimsy upgrade will have either died, changed to MAC or just given up on PCs.

I have upgraded an old eMachine, a newer Dell laptop without much trouble, but this one just sites at 10% and that is all folks!!!! Anyone have suggestions?

At what time does the upgrade hang?

How was the upgrade performed, through Windows update or through ISO?

As a work around we suggest you to install Windows 10 using an Media Creation Tool.

Windows 10 Upgrade Install Hangs and never completes

My older computer did the Windows 10 online upgrade from Windows 7 fine. My newer computer which far exceeds the Windows 10 requirements and had Windows 7 on it will not complete the online upgrade and the is stuck. When the computer was doing the upgrade
the system shows the nice Windows 10 screen where the circle goes round and round which seems fine and then the computer screen goes blank. The computer is still on and the upgrade is hung. I did have a second drive with a Linux OS on it. I have disconnected
the cables to it so it is a single drive now for Windows 10 and it still hangs. The hard drive light stops for hours so I am giving it plenty of time before I just power off the machine. F8 will not take you to Safe Mode. I have tried multiple days and
left the machine on for hours hoping for something. Any ideas would help. It is the Windows 10 Pro version online upgrade which is trying to upgrade to a i7 processor, 64 bit OS, 16 Gig of RAM, Terabyte hard drive with lots of space, machine. Have rebooted
a dozen times with no luck. Help....

 

None from me, sadly.
Without an error code it's anyone's guess. Setup should be more intuitive in this regard. An option for verbose messages in a command window may be a good idea.

Sorry, not of much help, but hopefully MS' techies reads these forums and the suggestions - and gives feedback to the relevant departments.

 

Well, it was my ISO DVD made a few months ago so it must have not been up to par, so I downloaded a new ISO to a flash drive and it is installing okay now. Win-10 didn't want to install on mine until I did a workaround with the graphics driver an just some brute force install tricks. Then the Internet went down for a while. So, now wit the stick ISO it is installing -- I hope!

Then my PC Ethernet would not connect! Cat hair and dust in the router output connecter, so I just used another. Yeah, dust is the #1 enemy of electronics.
