Windows 10: upgrade locked up computer Feb 2020

I recently responded to a Microsoft message recommending a software update. I am operating a Dell 5537 with Windows 10. The update completed and automatically re-booted however, the re-start stalled prior to reaching the wallpaper or sign in screen. The screen is locked with the WiFi, power button and task buttons showing on the lower right. Every 30 seconds or so, the screen attempts to continue with a brief 1 second faint view of the wallpaper and that disappears and goes back to the locked view. I left it alone for hours but it never did change and continued the same cycle over and over. As it stands now, the computer is useless - I can pay someone to try and fix it or throw the computer out - great choices after another Microsoft 10 upgrade failed and took my computer out at the knees.

him your computer locks up.... check what your running and see if it affects it cause this shouldn't happen it could be your ram or your mouse but i'm just giving a suggestion

 

Video card or RAM need upgrading?

Memtest: no errors after 10 hrs.
I'm going to perform the Primetest, later on. Get back to you on that.
I'm going to take it step by step, guys. I need to find the problem with this current computer. I might have to upgrade some components, so that it is still runnable. As for the new one, yes....i will build on it later. I need to find something decent 'gaming experience', all suggestions appreciated. THanks.

 

Lock screen not working properly on Windows 10 computer.

This issue might occur if there is change in lock screen settings.

To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

• When you say that "It is not flapped over to password when clicking", you tried to check the issue by clicking through external mouse?
• Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to change the picture of the lock screen and also try to update Display Adapter driver.

Step 1: I suggest you to follow the steps below to set the lock screen pictures.

1. Right click on Desktop screen.

2. Then click on Personalize.

3. Click on Lock Screen.

4. Try to select the lock screen picture.

Step 2: I recommend you to update the latest driver for display adapter in Device Manager.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on
Enter Key.

3. Expand Display Adapter.

4. Right click on the driver and click on Update driver software.
