    Upgrade to 18363.815 on HP af156sa causing system freeze every 2 secs


    I now realise that the whole laptop freezes every 2 secs
    I can't see anything significant in task manager in that the cpu & mem appear normal
    However, when I look at the performance I can see a regular cpu spike where it goes from 2% to 20% repeatedly (looks like a row of saw teeth!)
    The issue is not present in safe mode
    Any idea how I can zero on what process, driver etc. is causing this?
    How might I troubleshoot it?

    We appreciate you for trying the troubleshooting steps.

    It seems that, the issue is with any third party application, which is conflicting with the system files.

    I suggest you to start you system in safe mode and if the issue persist. If in safe mode, issue didn’t persist then, perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:

    Step 1: To start your system in Safe mode follow the below steps:


    • Press and hold Shift key and restart your Computer.

    • Select Troubleshoot.

    • Select Advance Option.

    • Select Startup Settings.

    • Follow the on Screen instruction.

    Step 2: Perform Clean boot.

    A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program.

    Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.
