Windows 10: Upgrade to build 10586 fails at 32%

I am trying to upgrade from windows 10 free upgrade to build 10586 (x64 pro) and it stalls at the same point whether the upgrade is from windows update or an ISO file on dvd. I select the first option to keep existing files and apps. But it stalls at 32% . Installing features and drivers at 23%. And I get the red box windows could not configure one or more system components etc. )xC1900101-0x30018, the installation failed in the first_boot phase with an error during SYSPREP operation. Any suggestions or should I go for a complete reinstall and not keeping existing apps and data? Its an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. Works fine on the original Windows 10 pro to which the system has regressed back to fortunately.

Windows 10 upgrade to 1511 (10586) problems. Windows 10 pro 64 and windows 10 home 32.

Ok, the laptop (Windows 10 home 32) took the upgrade to the new build 10586, but the desktop (windows 10 pro 64) had error; ( "0xC19000101 - 0x2000C The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation" ).

 

Windows 10 Pro version 1511 Won't Install

Sorry for the confusion, as an experiment I did two clean installs starting from windows 10 RTM. One 32-bit the other one with 64-bit. After that I updated both the 32-bit with build 10586, and the 64-bit with build 10586. These disks are in the same PC
(only one at a time), only the 32-bit crashes with error 0xC1900101-0x30018, while the 64-bits finishes the update to build 10586 smoothly.

 

It's not happy with something it's running into, obviously. Are you trying to go from 10240 to 10586? Don't know what you currently are on. You could spend hours/days fighting the "Upgrade" path, when a clean install will start you fresh. Probably spend less time reinstalling your apps and transferring your data back. Backup first to something external and disconnect it when doing the clean install.

Quite likely a third party anti-virus program or (less likely) Windows Firewall if this is the error code it throws up: 0xC1900101-0x30018

Have a look at the setuperr.log file - there may be some clues at the end of the file about what is causing your problems. My installation failed at the first boot phase due to a partially corrupted boot configurations - see https://www.tenforums.com/installatio...x80004005.html. Your error may be different though.
