Windows 10: Upgrade to Win 11 has caused wired network printer to not print.

I have a HP laptop 17-ca3 that I upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11 about 2 weeks ago. I use a wired Canon MF729CDw on my network. It worked just fine under Win 10, but now it won't print from this laptop. It still prints just fine from the other computers, all running Win 10, on my network. When I look in settings on the laptop, they indicate the printer is "offline". Interestingly, the Canon MF scan utility and the Canon toner status apps for this printer work just fine. Doing research, I see that network printers have been an issue with Win 11. My Win 11 is version 22H2. I waited to upgrade to

Windows 10 new upgrade; HP network printer will not print

Windows 10 new upgrade; HP network printer shows as properly installed on printer list but will not print. Printer dialogue box shows "printing" but no output. I have removed and reinstalled this printer to this PC. Same printer worked before with
Win 8.1 and still does with my wife's Win 7 PC. So not printer. Win 10 printer troubleshooter did not find any problems. Any suggestions to correct?

 

Unable to print to a network printer when connected to both wireless and wired networks

Hi Eileen,

• As far as i'm aware nothing has changed
• i have only tried to send test pages to the network printer so im assuming so yes
• wireless printer works fine when connected to both networks. However the wifi doesn't connect auto when an Ethernet connection is established this has to be manually connected.

I have tried the following:

• updated the print driver
• changed the network port it was plugged into
• ran windows updates
• configured with a static
• changed the wifi and Ethernet priority

I will run through the trouble shoot steps as suggest and come back to you.

FYI - he has a number of extenders dotted around, a collegue mentioned it could be a subnet issue?

Win Updates cause losing a network printer

I have a Canon MX 920 printer connected to my upstairs Win 10 computer by USB. My downstairs Win 10 computer has been working fine when printing to my upstairs computer.
I recently did some Win updates on my upstairs Win 10 computer that disabled this network printing. Not only did the printer box not come up during printing, but when I removed the network printer and tried to reinstall it by choosing "add printer" in Control panel / devices and printers. An error message said Windows could not find the network printer.
MS didn't let me uninstall the updates. Fortunately, I do make image files of my C drives. I reverted my upstairs computer to a 11/10/21 image and instantly got the network printer to work again. Clearly the Win Updates caused the loss of my network printer.
Is there is a solution other than not installing that Win Update? In my setup I never let Windows do automatic updates. My computers are only updated when I choose to do so manually.



On 11/10/21 I noted that KB:5006670 WIN update broke my 920 network printer on my downstairs computer. I wrongly assumed this was fixed a month later. So on 12/21/21 I installed Win updates it included these 3 updates:

KB5008212
SERVICING STACK 10.0 19041.1371


I'm sure that one of these updates is the culprit. Does anyone know which one is the is causing my network printer to not work on my downstairs computer? Or if there is another solution? The Canon forum was no help.
