Windows 10: Upgrade to Win 11: must I lose all my existing classic permanent software licenses?

Multiple computers upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11 lose icons in taskbar

I've noticed that multiple computers upgraded from Win 10 to WIn 11 lose icons on the taskbar, and Windows explorer has to be restarted to get them back. But new computers that came with Win 11 installed do not seem to have that problem. I've used sfc /scannow and no problems are found in the upgraded computers. Does anyone known why the icons disappear from the taskbar in computers that were upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11 and how to fix the problem permanently?

 

SCCM: In Place upgrade Win 7to win 10 1903 License issue

I was working on one task sequence for In Place Upgrade. Win 10 1709 to Win 10 1903 is working fine.

But Win 7 to Win 10 1903 is getting failed during Upgrade Operating System step.

I checked some of the links and added the KMS Client Keys (NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43) in upgrade operating system step.

Also added one step to run vbs script.

But Task Sequence is getting failed at this step.

Command line Cscript.exe c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ipk NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43 returned 3221549136

In my environment, we are using KMS and we don't have a Volume license.

Any advise how to resolve this issue.

 

Does a Transferable license "upgrade" if the computer it's applied to is upgraded to windows 11?

When you upgrade the PC is assigned a permanent Digital License to reinstall Windows 10/11 as often as you want. The older OS key is never needed again except in the extremely rare case where it loses Digital Activation which is permanent.

So when you go to move the DL to new hardware using the Activation Troubleshooter, or contact Support to have them do this, it would not matter if the Upgrade is no longer free because you've already upgraded and received the free Upgrade Digital License.

I expect Windows 11 to follow the same course as Windows 10 which is that the Upgrade has remained free all along, even passing posted deadlines without comment. I'm sure they were reserving the right to cut it off at sometime but they decided not to. Even if they did it would only be for new DL's and not ones that already exist, which retail the rights of the underlying retail Product Key.
