Windows 10: Upgrade to Windows 10, from Windows 7 fails 0xC1900101 - 0X4000D

Hi All,


I have failed three attempts to upgrade Windows 7 on my Acer Revo RL70. The results are the same, using the media creation tool directly, or using the tool to download the ISO and mounting that.

The update fails at 89%. By fail, I mean the progress wheel stops spinning and the computer appears to freeze, on a hard shutdown and restart, it will roll back to Win7 and give the error as:

0xC1900101 - 0X4000D The Installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation.

On the most recent attempt, I used MSINFO to disable Startup Services and System Processes. I also removed the AMD Graphics Drivers and Catalyst Upgrade Center from the machine. I also removed all external Hard drives. THe machine is connected to the internet via ethernet cable and not wireless.

The machine is connected via HDMI cable, to the monitor.

Problems with Windows 10 Upgrade - Error Code 0xC1900101-0x4000D

Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 and receiving Error Code 0xC1900101-0x4000D on two machines:

1) Dell 546 PC currently running Windows 8.1 - Failed in second boot phase with an error during migrate_data operation.

2) Lenovo X201 Laptop currently running Windows 7 - Page fault in non-paged area.

Any suggestions?

I failed to upgrade Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 Home with an error code 0xC1900101-0x4000D so I had to get back to the previous windows setting.

This error code 0xC1900101-0x4000D means the installation failed at the second_boot phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation. For us to resolve this issue, we need to do troubleshooting steps. Kindly check this
