Upgrade win10 64 pro Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586 to latest version

Because my main Laptop is having a new SSD installed, I am using my spare laptop which was upgraded to win 10 Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586 but has not been used for almost a year. Windows updates keep failing and I am using up lots of data download as it seems to fail and then start all over again. How can I force it to upgrade to the Fall Creators upgrade? I am not very tech savy!

    :)

Windows 10 update 1511,10586 not installing

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I did check out your suggested link and found out my windows 10 version was the same as previous-Windows 10 Pro 10.0.10240 Build 10240. It therefore had not updated in spite of telling me that I was up to date.

Yesterday I downloaded the upgrade from the Microsoft website. It took over 5 hours to install, freezing at 84% and 91% for long periods, but eventually installed.

System Information shows I now have version 10.0.10586. Build 10586.

I was expecting the upgrade to be version 10. 1511, 10586, as this was the update version which I was unable to install on 16.11.15. have I got the latest version?

Create a bootable windows 10 iso:
    Download Windows 10

Perform an in place upgrade repair without updates:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade Installation Upgrade Tutorials

If you are successful with the in place upgrade repair you can then update.

There is no method to force the upgrade.
These are things that you can do that may improve the likelihood of success:

    1) Uninstall all AV products except Windows defender
    2) Place the computer in clean boot
